Pune: Shivshahi Bus Collides With Tree Due To Brake Failure; No Casualties Reported
Pune, 26th May 2023: A Shivshahi bus hit a tree on the side of the footpath due to brake failure. The bus was heavily damaged in the collision. The tree also fell to the ground. The said incident happened this morning at Balasaheb Thackeray Chowk of Sangamwadi. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in this accident and all the 25 passengers survived.
There have been many incidents of Shivshahi bus accidents across the state in the past. The air-conditioned Shivshahi bus introduced by MSRTC is more in the news for its accidents than its facilities. Since the Shivshahi bus came into service, the accidents have not stopped.
MSRTC introduced air-conditioned buses in Shivshahi in June 2017. This included both owned and leased buses. From April 2018 to March 2019, about 221 accidents occurred including Shivshahi. The previous year this number was 240. Although the accidents have decreased, it has not been completely stopped. Currently, MSRTC has 900 owned buses and 400 leased buses in its fleet.
