Pune: ‘Shree Vishweshwar’ panel sweeps Vishweshwar Co-operative Bank elections

Pune, 21 February 2023: The ‘Shree Vishweshwar Panel’ led by Anil Gadve under the guidance of Suniel Rukari swept the Vishweshwar Co-operative Bank elections for 2023-2028, by winning all the positions.The polling took place on February 18th, while counting of votes happened on February 19.

The Vishweshwar Bank, which has 28 branches, is operational in Maharashtra and Karnataka. It has an overall business of 2,642 crores and recently got the nod from Reserve Bank of India for internet banking.

Formed by late Namdeorao Rukari, late Bharat Gadve and late Baburao Harpale in 1972, the Bank recently celebrated its golden jubilee year. 40 percent of the total 23,429 Bank members voted in the polls, which is the highest number as far as co-operative banks are concerned.

Vishweshwar Panel chief Anil Gadve received 6,776 votes in the open category, while Ratna Kasbekar in the women’s category bagged 6,852 votes. Anil Gadve received the highest number of votes in the elections.

The other winning candidates from the panel are – Shreyas Rukari, Rajendra Miraje, Amol Maniyar, Manoj Sakhare, Dattatray Kamathe, Ajay Doijad, Subhash Ladge, Ravindra Mahajan and Sulabha Kokate, Vishweshwar Bank Chief Executive Officer Sriram Apte said.

Narendra Vyavare, who led the opposite panel, bagged only 260 votes, as all candidates from his panel lost their deposits. Vishweshwar Panel chief Anil Gadve announced in the general body meeting that in the next three years, the Bank’s business will be increased upto Rs 5,000 crore. Anand Katake, Deputy Registrar, Co-operative, was the returning officer for the elections, which was conducted peacefully, without any untoward incident.
