Lohegaon, 5th April 2023: A 36-year-old IT professional was left with a fractured finger after a fight broke out during a society meeting in Kingsbury Pride World City Housing Society in the Charholi area of Pimpri Chinchwad city, according to the police.

The incident occurred on 26th March at around 11:30 am in the community hall of the housing society on the first floor.

The police said that a meeting of society officer bearers was called on 26th March to discuss various issues, including handing over the society from the concerned builder. During the meeting, the victim, Manoranjan Kumar Satendra Singh, raised several questions, including how much the builder would provide to run the housing society. Singh also questioned why the builder had taken almost two years of maintenance costs from the flat owners while booking the flats.

During the meeting, there were heated arguments between the accused, including Mandeep Singh, the chairman of the society, and Shrinivas Rakale, with the victim. The issue further escalated when, according to the victim, the accused abused him and Mandeep Singh beat him up so badly that the victim sustained a finger fracture. Another accused, Shrinivas Rakale, allegedly assaulted the victim with an iron weapon and injured him.

Police officials from the Dighi police station said that they have booked two persons in this case under sections 325, 324, 504, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. Police are investigating the case.

“I am currently serving as the chairman of a society that comprises eight towers, and my tenure is soon coming to an end. Unfortunately, there are a few individuals who are attempting to create an unfavorable environment for me to secure my position as the next chairman. While we did have a heated argument, I want to clarify that I did not attack him with a knife. The argument arose because the individual was saying inappropriate things. He later left and filed a complaint against me. Prior to this, I had also registered a non-cognizable complaint at the police station. However, the other individual also filed a complaint and suddenly an FIR was lodged against me at night,” explained Shrinivas, the current society chairman.
