Pune: Stage Collapse Claims One Life and Injures Three Bullock Cart Race

Loni Kalbhor, 4th June 2023: A tragic incident took place today evening near Ramdara in Loni Kalbhor, Pune, when a stage erected for a bullock cart race collapsed, resulting in the death of one individual and leaving three others seriously injured.

The deceased has been identified as Balasaheb Kashinath Koli, aged 46, from Ninam Padli in Satara district. The injured victims, Shubham Vijay Lokhande (24), Mayur Pramod Lokhande (25), and Vikas Valmik Dhamale (24) from Pimpri Wahan in Rahuri, Ahmednagar district, are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital, as confirmed by the Loni Kalbhor police.

The bullock cart race was organized in the Ramdara area of Loni Kalbhor on Sunday. Villagers had constructed a stage for the event. However, heavy rain accompanied by strong winds swept through the area in the evening. Seeking shelter from the inclement weather, Balasaheb Koli, Shubham Lokhande, Mayur Lokhande, and Vikas Dhamale took refuge near the stage. Tragically, due to the forceful gusts of wind, the stage collapsed, causing the debris to fall onto the individuals standing nearby.

The collapse of the stage created a state of panic and commotion in the vicinity. Balasaheb Koli, Shubham Lokhande, Mayur Lokhande, and Vikas Dhamale, who sustained severe injuries, were swiftly transported to a private hospital in the Hadapsar area for immediate medical attention. Unfortunately, medical experts declared Balasaheb Koli dead upon arrival, before any treatment could be administered.
