Pune: State Excise Dept Takes Action Against 21 Rooftop Hotels In Five Months In District, Fine Worth Rs 6 Lakh Recovered

Pune 1st Sept 2023: The state excise department of Maharashtra has increased action against the rooftop hotels in the city as the officials have taken action against 21 rooftop hotels violating the norms in the last five months. The officials have also recovered a fine of Rs 6 lakh from the owners of these hotels.
This according to the official data is a much higher number of hotels penalised by the excise department compared to last year. According to the official data, the action was taken against a total of 29 rooftop hotels in one year between April 1, 2022 and March 31, 2023.
This comes at a time when the city police and the officials of Pune Municipal Corporation have also decided to go hard against the rooftop hotels in the city. The Pune Municipal Corporation has demolished the structure of several rooftop hotels in the city in the last few months for violating the norms.
