Pune: Stolen Valuables Worth Rs 29 Lakh Recovered From Thief In Chakan Burglary Case

Chakan, 4th January 2024: Mahalunge police have arrested a thief who had burglarized a house in Moi, Chakan, making away with gold ornaments worth approximately three lakh rupees.

The accused, identified as Aamir Shabbir Shaikh, a 25-year-old resident of Nigdi Pradhikaran, was caught near Dongre Vasti in the limits of Kuruli village.

The incident occurred on December 25, 2022, when the thief, after breaking into Nitin Shahaji Karpe’s house in Moi, stole 47 tolas of gold and Rs 5 lakh 15 thousand in cash, along with gold ornaments valued at Rs 3 lakhs. Following the burglary, Karpe filed a complaint with the Mahalunge police station under Pimpri Chinchwad police.

DCP Sandeep Doifode revealed that the Mahalunge police checked CCTV footage of the area and successfully identified the accused based on the color of the bike and its wheel. A red bike seen moving suspiciously in the vicinity raised alarms, leading the police to detain the rider during a patrol in Moi, Nighoje, Kuruli area.

When interrogated, Shaikh confessed to the burglary at Karpe’s house. The police subsequently seized 47.8 tola gold jewelry, Rs 3 lakh in cash, and a two-wheeler valued at around Rs 29 lakh 3 thousand 400 from the accused.

The investigation was conducted by team comprising Senior Police Inspector Vasant Babar, Police Inspector (Crime) Santosh Kasbe, Police Sub Inspector Vilas Gosavi, and police personnel Raju Konkeri, Amol Borate, Yuvraj Birajdar, Santosh Holkar, Vitthal Wadekar, Santosh Kale, Kishore Sangle, Shivaji Lokhande, Balkrishna Patole, Rajendra Khedkar, Santosh Waikar, Ganesh Gaikwad, Rahul Misal and Amol Mate.
