Pune: Techie Assaulted For Objecting To Children’s Entry In Smoking Zone At Restaurant, Seven Booked

Pimpri Chinchwad 16th Oct 2023: A 42-year-old person was assaulted and abused by a group of people inside a bar and restaurant in Sutarwadi area on Saturday after he objected to children’s entry into the smoking zone area inside the restaurant. The accused who got angry with his demand abused and assaulted him and his friend, they also pushed his wife leading to an FIR being registered by the victim with Pimpri Chinchwad Police.

According to police, the incident took place at around 9:45 pm inside a resto-bar. The victim had gone for dinner with his wife and friends when he noticed some children playing inside the smoking zone area at the restaurant. He called the staffer and requested him to ask their parents to take them out. This infuriated one of the persons present in the restaurant who started abusing the techie for not allowing the children in a specific area of the hotel.

After some time, some more people joined in and they started assaulting the victim. The victim’s friend who tried to intervene was also assaulted by the accused causing head injury to him. A case under sections 327, 323, 142, 146 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered with Hinjewadi Police Station. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
