Mumbai, 11th October 2023: After a four-year pause, the Indian Cake Awards (ICA) reemerged, casting a spotlight on India’s booming cake artistry scene. Held in the bustling heart of Mumbai on October 7, the event was a feast for the eyes and the soul, honoring the country’s finest cake creators.

A Festival of Flavors and Talent

The event was a festival of flavors, colors, and extraordinary talent, with awards that covered a wide range of categories. From ‘Top Wedding Cake Designer’ to ‘Emerging Talent,’ and from ‘Premier Baking Academy’ to ‘Cake Virtuoso,’ the ceremony recognized the diverse and remarkable skills that make up India’s cake industry. The ICA remains the sole all-India platform that celebrates these artisans.

The Night’s Pinnacle: Prachi Dhabal Deb

As the ceremony reached its zenith, the atmosphere was electric. The ‘Indian Industry Icon,’ the most sought-after award of the night, was yet to be announced. The crowd, sensing the winner in this undisclosed category, spontaneously began chanting “Prachi.” When Prachi Dhabal Deb, who transitioned from a career in finance to cake artistry, was revealed as the recipient, the hall was filled with ecstatic applause and cheers.

In her moving acceptance speech, Prachi conveyed her immense gratitude and honor. “To be acknowledged for doing what you love is the ultimate accolade,” she said, her voice filled with emotion. “My 11-year odyssey in cake artistry has been a labor of love.”

A Record of Remarkable Achievements

Prachi is already a decorated artist. She boasts three world records: one for crafting a 100 kg cake inspired by Milan’s iconic cathedral, another for creating the highest number of vegan royal icing structures, and a third for a 200 kg edible Indian palace, also made from vegan royal icing. These milestones have been authenticated by the World Book of Records, London.

The Artisan Behind the Creations

Originally from Rewa in Madhya Pradesh, Prachi completed her educational journey in Dehradun and Kolkata. She is married to an IT specialist and currently lives in Rahatani, Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune.

The Indian Cake Awards have not only highlighted the industry’s exceptional talents but have also provided it with a face, a name, and a compelling story. Prachi Dhabal Deb is that face, that name, and that compelling story—a shining example of what dedication, skill, and a dash of sweetness can accomplish.
