Pune: Thief Exchanges Debit Card Of Elderly Man At ATM Centre, Withdraws Rs 5.79 Lakh
Pune, 29th October 2022: An incident has come to light where a thief stole Rs 5.79 lakh from a bank account of a senior citizen. Investigation revealed that the thief had stolen the senior’s debit card on the pretext of help and withdrawn cash from the bank account from time to time.
The elderly man from Shaniwar Peth has filed a complaint at Vishrambaug police station. On October 11, he went to a bank’s ATM centre on Bajirao Road to withdraw cash. Under the pretext of helping him withdraw money, the accused exchanged his debit card and also learnt about the password (PIN). By misusing the stolen debit card and password, the thief withdrew Rs 5.79 lakh from the bank account from time to time in the last ten to twelve days.

After realizing that the money was stolen from the bank account, he lodged a complaint with the police. Police sub-inspector Varsarani Sutar is further investigating the case.
