Pune: Thorough Cleaning Campaign Launched by PCMC on Major Roads in Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pimpri, 19th January 2024: In a concerted effort to enhance cleanliness and hygiene, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has initiated an extensive cleaning campaign on 17 major roads within the city.

As part of this ongoing drive, a comprehensive cleaning operation was carried out on both sides of the road from Nigdi to Dapodi on the morning of January 19th, resulting in the collection of an impressive 50 tons of soil and garbage. Additionally, road dividers were diligently washed with water to ensure a thorough cleanup.

Assistant Commissioner of the Health Department, Yashwant Dange, shared that approximately 1200 employees actively participated in this large-scale cleaning campaign, underscoring the collective commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

Pimpri-Chinchwad, with its eight zonal offices and 32 wards, responded to the directive from the Maharashtra state government to conduct extensive cleaning campaigns in all these areas. Following the instructions of PCMC Commissioner and Administrator, Shekhar Singh, the citywide cleanliness drive has been systematically initiated.

Assistant Commissioner Yashwant Dange provided details about the ongoing campaign, emphasizing its implementation on various roads throughout the city. The cleaning drive on the Nigdi to Dapodi route, conducted from 7 to 10 am on Friday, yielded the collection and proper disposal of 50 tons of waste and soil in designated waste depots. The operation was conducted with the cooperation of Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic Branch, Vivek Patil, ensuring smooth traffic flow during the cleaning process.
