Pune: Three Arrested For Stealing Mobile 3G/4G Towers

Pune, November 20, 2020: The Pune City Crime Branch has arrested three persons for allegedly stealing spare parts of mobile phone towers from Pune city, rural and Pimpri Chinchwad areas. Police have arrested three accused in this connection on Wednesday.

 

The accused has been identified as Sufran Latib Raj alias Baba (40) and Mahesh Hanumant Parit (24), and scrap dealer Samirullah Azimullah Shah, all residents of Hadapsar.

 

According to police officials, On Wednesday Police Sub Inspector AD pingale received secret information that two accused will be coming to Swargate Bus stand on a motorbike. Acting on the tipoff, Police Naik Bhilare, Gore, and Policemen Farande, Kadir Shaikh nabbed the accused. Upon questioning them the accused revealed that they stole cell phone tower basebands, Rus cards and other expensive spare parts of towers.

The further probe revealed that the two accused sold all of this equipment to scrap dealer Shah. Upon arresting Shah, police officials have recovered 6 basebands controlling 3G, 4G network coverage on mobile towers of different companies, 11 Rus cards, 2 TRX, 2 bikes, totally worth Rs. 61,15,000.

 

DCP(Crime) Bachchan Singh said, “Unit-2 crime branch has arrested three accused and detected thefts of BTS in cell towers of 3G/4G network operators. 11 offences have been detected with the recovery of 60 lacs. Unit-2 is investigating further.”The accused have been remanded in police custody till November 23.
