Pune: Three Vehicle Thieves Nabbed, Main Accused Used To Observe Vehicles From His Bread Store

Hadapsar, 12th June 2021: Police have nabbed three people – a vehicle thief and his two minor associates. Till now, they have accepted ten crimes of vehicle theft. The main accused, Faij Arif Ansari (22), runs a bread store. He used to observe the vehicles to pick up from his store.

 

Police Constables Akbar Sheikh and Prashant Dudhal had received an input claiming that “three people are roaming on a stolen two-wheeler and they are coming towards Manjri from Shewalewadi Petrol Pump”.

 

Acting on the input, police placed teams on Shewalewadi road. After a while, police saw three men coming towards them on a Unicorn motorbike. When asked to stop, these men tried to run away. Police caught Faij and two of his minor accomplices around 3 pm on June 10.

They did not have any documents regarding the vehicle and gave unsatisfactory answers to the questions of the police. When interrogated further, Faij admitted 10 crimes; a total of 14 motorbikes worth Rs 4.2 lakh have been seized from him. Two more people from their gang are absconding.  

 

The action was taken under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Namdev Chavan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Namrata Patil, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Hadapsar Division) Kalyanrao Vidhate and Senior Police Inspector Balkrishna Kadam.

The police team included Police Inspector (Crime) Raju Adagale, Police Inspector (Crime) Digambar Shinde, API Hanumant Gaikwad, PSI Saurabh Mane and police personnel Pradip Sonawane, Pratap Gaikwad, Ganesh Kshirsagar, Akbar Sheikh, Avinash Gosavi, Sandeep Rathod, Sameer Pandule, Shahid Sheikh, Shashikant Nale, Sachin Jadhav, Prashant Dudhal, Nikhil Pawar and Prashant Tonpe.
