Pune: Tilekarnagar-Yewalewadi Road Construction to Commence, Easing Commuting Woes
Yewalewadi, 21st May 2023: The long-awaited relief for the citizens of Tilekarnagar, Kamthenagar, Pansarenagar, and Yewalewadi is finally on the horizon as the stalled work on the Katraj-Kondhwa road is expected to be completed soon. Moreover, the construction of the Tilekarnagar-Yewalewadi 24-meter road in the same vicinity is set to commence, bringing further respite to the residents.
The Standing Committee has given its approval for the tender worth Rs 18 crore 29 lakh 20 thousand for this project.
The citizens of these areas have been enduring considerable inconvenience due to the blockage of this road. The road leading to Yevlewadi near ISKCON Mandir Chowk on the Katraj-Kondhwa Road has been causing inconvenience to citizens due to its narrow and partially developed condition. The alternative road, which connects Khadi Machine Chowk to Pansarenagar, Yewalewadi, proves to be more convenient for the residents of Yewalewadi.
This road runs parallel to the route from Khadi Machine Chowk to Bopdev Ghat. The growing traffic congestion in the area has prompted demands for swift completion of the roadwork to alleviate the situation.
Work on these roads was initiated last year during the monsoon season, but only a 200-feet section was completed before it came to a halt. Subsequently, a preliminary estimate of Rs 22 crores was prepared for the road construction, and tenders were floated accordingly.
M.Saiprabha Construction secured the tender for Rs 18 crore 29 lakh 20 thousand, which is 16 percent lower than the pre-calculation sheet. The Standing Committee has given its approval to the tender. The total length of the road is 2 km, with 1,400 meters of the road being 24 meters wide and the remaining 600 meters being 10 meters wide. With the approval of this project, citizens can expect the road to be available for use in the upcoming year.
