Pune to Get Iconic Entry Gates at Key Borders, PMC Standing Committee Clears Plan
Pune, 10th April 2026: In a move aimed at enhancing the city’s identity and aesthetics, the Standing Committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved a proposal to construct grand entry gates at key points along the city’s boundaries.
Announcing the decision on Friday, Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale said the proposal, which was earlier introduced in the PMC budget, has now received formal approval. The entry gates are planned to be developed in the name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, aligning with the city’s cultural and historical legacy.
According to officials, the gateways will be designed to reflect Pune’s rich heritage, cultural significance, and modern growth. The structures are expected to serve as prominent landmarks, offering a visually appealing welcome to visitors entering the city.
Civic authorities believe the project will not only enhance the city’s overall appearance but also instill a sense of pride among residents. The entry gates will be constructed in phases across major entry points of Pune, as part of a broader push towards planned urban development.
