Pune tops in new vehicles registration in the country

Pune July 27, 2020: As public transport services are not convenient for the citizens of Pune, they are now focused on buying their own vehicles. Pune ranked first in the country for purchasing vehicles in the last six months. More than 70,000 vehicles have been registered with the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) in the last six months. Pune beat Lucknow, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Kanpur to become the top city for new vehicle registration.

The Pune RTO (MH12) has registered 74,016 and Pimpri RTO (MH14) has registered 49,337 vehicles from January to July 25.

At present, 1444 RTOs are operational in the country and out of this, 1234 have been registered with the Ministry of Road and Transport website ‘Parivahan’. According to the website, 83.06 lakh new vehicles have been registered till now. Out of this, 63.58 lakh include two-wheelers, 9.75 lakh cars and 6.69 lakh are commercial vehicles.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there was no vehicle sale in April, May and mid-June. But after the announcement of the unlock 1.0, the vehicle’s registration has been started. 11,000 vehicles have been registered with Pune RTO. From June to July, Jaipur (RJ 14) registered 13,688, Lucknow (UP 32) registered 13,184 and Ahmedabad registered (GJ 01) 9114 vehicles.
