Pune: Tourists Attacked In Lonavla Near Maggi Point Over Parking Issue
Lonavla, 2nd January 2022: A case has been registered against four persons in Lonavla city police station for attacking tourists with a Koyta (chopper) while arguing with them saying why they parked their vehicles on the road at Maggi Point.
Based on the complaint lodged by Niraj Kumar Umashankar Tiwari (24), a resident of Kharghar, Raigad, who was injured in the attack, a case was registered against Rohan Gaikwad, Immu aka Imran Sheikh, both residents of Lonavla and two other persons under section 307 of the IPC.
According to the complaint, Tiwari and his friends Harsh Vikas Kumar Gupta, Rakesh Rahulani, and the driver Karan, came to Lonavla on the night of December 31, 2022, in a Wagon R car. They had reserved a room in the hotel Blue Lagoon near Mumbai-Pune Highway.
At around 1 am Tiwari and Harsh got hungry and left the hotel with their vehicle to see if they could get something to eat. As there was a shop open at Maggi Point, they parked their vehicle on the road and bought parcels of food.
Meanwhile, three youths were standing behind their car. When Harsh was paying for the parcel, the youth started abusing him as to why he parked the car there. Also, he was beaten with hands and kicks and then stabbed with a chopper. When Niraj went to save Harsh, he was also beaten up by the said accused.
Reportedly, their car was also vandalized. Norah then took Harsh near the hotel, at that time police arrived and admitted both of them to a private hospital in Lonavla. They were treated there and later admitted to a private hospital in Panvel.
A case has been registered in this matter at Lonavla city police station and under the guidance of police inspector Sitaram Dubal, assistant police inspector Sandesh Bawkar is investigating and searching for the attackers. Meanwhile, all these incidents have also been captured on CCTV.
