Pune: Two Bihar Men Held For Cyberblackmail Linked To Techie’s Suicide in Kharadi
Pune, 28th October 2026: Two alleged cyber criminals from Bihar have been arrested for allegedly blackmailing a 22-year-old Accenture employee with an obscene video, extorting Rs 1.77 lakh and threatening to frame him in a drug smuggling case before he died by suicide on October 1.
The victim, Shikhar Saxena, jumped from the 27th floor of a building in Kharadi. The accused, Akashkumar Sanjay Singh (18) and Rajkumar Sampurnanand Singh (20), were produced before a court on Tuesday, which extended their police custody till October 31.
Police said the accused allegedly lured Saxena into an obscene video call through a Telegram link after contacting him via a fake Instagram account. They recorded the call and blackmailed him into transferring money to multiple bank accounts. One of the accused allegedly posed as Haryana police officer Ajaykumar Bhatiya and threatened to arrest him in a drug case.
Saxena’s father, Kumargaurav, lodged a complaint at Kharadi police station on October 14. Police arrested the duo in Danapur, Bihar, on October 21 and seized their mobile phones. Four more suspects, including alleged mastermind Aniketkumar Gupta, are still wanted.
Investigators are examining digital evidence and bank transactions to identify other victims and establish the suspects’ roles. Charges of criminal conspiracy, impersonation of a public servant and offences under the IT Act have been added.
Calling the alleged crime “no less than murder”, Saxena’s father demanded strict punishment for all those involved. A BTech graduate from NIT in Himachal Pradesh, Shikhar had joined Accenture’s Hadapsar office in July through campus placement.
