Katraj, 30th March 2023: Traffic jams at Katraj Chowk have been an issue for years, and the problem continues to persist even now. The Municipal Traffic Department, Road Department, Encroachment Administration, Traffic Police Control, and PMPML, among others, have all been criticized for ignoring the issue.

The presence of unauthorized stops for private travel, including PMPML bus halts, rickshaw stands, government ST-PMPML buses, unauthorized passenger transport vehicles, and unauthorized stalls and food stalls standing along the road, has led to traffic congestion in many places due to inadequate roads.

The ongoing flyover work in Katraj Chowk and the three PMPML bus stands in the area have also added to the problem. The congestion caused by the rickshaw stands, private passenger vehicles, and encroachment by street vendors who stop illegally outside shops along the chowk has become a daily issue.

In 2019, the “Mission Katraj Clean” initiative was launched by Rajesh Purani, Senior Inspector of Bharti Vidyapeeth Traffic Police Control Department, which took action against many unauthorized vehicles and PMPML buses in Katraj Chowk. However, citizens are now asking for such initiatives from the administration to control the current situation at Katraj Chowk.
