Pune: Underground road from Panchavati to SB Road, Paud Road; DRDO grants permission for feasibility survey

Pune, August 8, 2020: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has approved the work of the conducting survey for the underground road from Panchavati to Senapati Bapat Road and Paud Road to ease traffic movement in Shivajinagar, informed MLA Siddharth Shirole on Friday.
The survey for feasibility of underground road from required the approval of the DRDO. Shirole had conducted a meeting with senior DRDO officials last week and had asked for approval for the survey work. The officials had assured him that they would approve the survey soon. Shirole said that permission has been received.
“DRDO has granted permission to survey the feasibility of the underground road from Panchavati ( Pashan ) to S.B. Road and Paud Road. This approval will give impetus to the work of the new proposed route that is much needed as a long term solution to traffic movement in Shivajinagar”, said Shirole in a tweet.
“In a review meeting held on Friday, under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, instructions have been given to start the survey work of the subway at a faster pace. In the same meeting important decisions were made regarding project confirmation, approval, land acquisition, alternative roads, etc. to speed up the work of Pune Metro Line No. 3 – Shivajinagar to Hinjewadi. It is also decided to form a three-member committee of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) officials”, Shirole said.
