Pune, 14th March 2026: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol has undergone surgery and will remain away from public engagements for about a month while recovering in the hospital. The minister shared an update about his health through a message on social media, stating that the procedure was required to treat a long-standing injury.

According to Mohol, the injury dates back nearly 29 years, when he sustained it while participating in a wrestling bout in Kolhapur. The injury eventually forced him to give up the sport, although he continued to live with the discomfort for many years.

In his social media post, Mohol said the condition had gradually worsened over time, and doctors recently advised surgery as the only effective treatment option.

“Apologies, but I will have to take compulsory rest for a month,” he wrote, explaining that the medical procedure had to be carried out despite the ongoing session of the Parliament of India and his busy schedule.

The minister noted that the timing of the surgery is challenging as it coincides with several responsibilities, including parliamentary work, official travel across the country, and regular interactions with citizens from his Pune Lok Sabha constituency.

He also mentioned that he would miss attending the prestigious Maharashtra Kesari wrestling competition this year, an event closely associated with the state’s wrestling tradition.

Mohol said that being unable to carry out his responsibilities has been more distressing for him than the physical pain caused by the injury. However, he expressed confidence that he would recover soon and return to public work.

“With your blessings and good wishes, I will recover soon and return to serving you all within a month with even greater energy than before,” he said.

Following his message, supporters, party workers and well-wishers posted numerous messages on social media wishing the minister a speedy recovery.
