Pune University’s Research Park Foundation Gets Status Of ‘Leaders’ Again, Maharashtra Innovation Society Grants Seed Fund of Rs 5 Crore

Pune, 5th April 2022: Savitribai Phule Pune University’s Research Park Foundation’ has been accorded the status of ‘Leaders’ by the Maharashtra Innovation Society and has also been granted a seed fund of Rs 5 crore.

SPPU’s Research Park Foundation of Pune University is a company under Section 8. Last year, the university’s Department of Innovation, Innovation and Associations was given the status of ‘Leaders’. This year, the Foundation has been accorded this status among 17 innovation centres in Maharashtra, while it has also been entrusted with the responsibility of guiding Solapur University’s ‘Udyam’ and Akola’s ‘PDKV’ centres.

Through the Research Park Foundation, work is underway on 11 startups in 2019, 27 in 2020 and 50 in 2021, informed Apoorva Palkar, Director of Innovation, Incubation and Linkage, SPPU.

Dr Palkar said that more than 200 jobs have been created through the foundation. Some of the major startups associated with the university include Cognition in PropSpace, Innovation in AgriTech, deep tech in Healthcare, and Social Index in Social Innovation.

In addition to the I-to-E, PitchFest, the university hosts a number of startup-related competitions each year through local self-government bodies. Palkar also said that the students get an opportunity to work on many social issues.
