Pune: Urea Stock Sufficient for Kharif, Rabi Seasons in Pune District, Farmers Urged Not to Panic
Pune, 25th March 2026: Amid reports about shortage of urea fertilisers, the district administration on Wednesday clarified that sufficient stock is currently available across Pune district.
Officials said that for the 2025–26 season, the district was allocated 74,000 metric tonnes of urea, of which 70,249 metric tonnes — nearly 95 per cent — has already been supplied. In addition, a carryover stock of 13,347 metric tonnes from the previous season is also available, ensuring there will be no shortage for both the kharif and rabi seasons.
According to the administration, all talukas, including Ambegaon, Baramati, Bhor, Daund, Haveli, Indapur, Junnar, Khed, Maval, Mulshi, Purandar, Shirur and Velha, have adequate availability of fertilisers. In several talukas, more than 90 per cent of the allocated supply has already been distributed.
The agriculture department has urged farmers not to panic and to purchase fertilisers only as per requirement, avoiding unnecessary stockpiling.
Officials added that distribution is being closely monitored and assured that no artificial shortage will be allowed to arise in the district.
