Sharad Pawar Awards Rs 12 Lakh Scholarship to Wrestler Harshvardhan Sadgir, Extends Rs 50 Lakh Aid to Training Centre Run By Kakasaheb Pawar
Pune, 25th March 2026 : NCP (SP) chief and veteran leader Sharad Pawar has awarded a scholarship of Rs 12 lakh to double Maharashtra Kesari winner Harshvardhan Sadgir and extended financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh to a wrestling training centre run by Arjuna awardee Kakasaheb Pawar.
The announcement was made during a meeting in Mumbai, where Sadgir, along with Kakasaheb Pawar, met Sharad Pawar.
Praising Sadgir’s achievements, Pawar presented a scholarship cheque of Rs 12 lakh, to be disbursed at Rs 50,000 per month over the next two years, to support his preparation for international competitions, including the Olympics.
In addition, Pawar provided Rs 50 lakh to the international sports complex run by Kakasaheb Pawar in Pune, recognising the achievements of wrestlers from the academy, including Sadgir, who have won multiple medals.
Kakasaheb Pawar said Sharad Pawar has consistently supported sportspersons and played a key role in promoting wrestling. “He not only makes announcements but also ensures timely financial support for athletes and training centres,” he said.
Sadgir said the support would motivate him to pursue his goal of representing India at the Olympics, adding that he also plans to compete again in the Maharashtra Kesari tournament.
Kakasaheb Pawar said they also met Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who assured a job for Sadgir in the Nashik Municipal Corporation and the announcement of the same would be made in the upcoming session.
