Pune, 22nd July 2022: The residents of Koregaon Park are taking an active part to make the area more beautiful and clean. However, the neglect from the civic body is causing inconvenience to the citizens who want to visit the public garden.

Dhairyashil Vandekar, a Mohalla Committee member has raised a complaint regarding the upkeep of Wagaskar Garden which is located at Lane 6, Koregaon Park. According to Vandekar, public areas like this which are in a bad shape are degrading the image of Koregaon Park.

Vandekar has sent the complaints and demands regarding the garden on behalf of the locals to Pune Municipal Corporation’s garden department for immediate help.

While talking to PunekarNews.in, Vandekar said, “Vagaskar garden is one of the most loved gardens in the area. Most senior citizens like to visit this place to distress themselves. The place had an open gym and nice scenery along with some soothing music which used to relax the people who came to walk or jog. But in recent times, the garden is not getting cleaned by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). We requested the Garden Department of PMC to take a look at the garden premises, and make necessary changes.”

List of changes required:

• Installing CCTV at the entrance

• Huge amount of garbage and waste has piled above the washrooms which need immediate cleaning

• Some equipment in the open-air gym needs maintenance and greasing. It should be done urgently

• Music player was installed in a garden is now damaged. It should start again as it was helping senior citizens to relax their anxiety

• Tiles have come out at many places on the track and in other areas. Need immediate repairs

• Proper lighting at the entrance and other areas in the garden.

• Wall at South is started cracking, due to monsoon, there are high chances that the wall might fall as the wall is highly tilt.

• DP boxes are open. There are also live wires in the boxes. Due to the monsoon, there are a lot of puddles around these DP boxes. It is a high chance that current might transfer in those puddles.

• There are cement benches in the garden. In summer, due to heat, these benches absorb and radiate more heat. As a result, citizens can not seat on the bench for a long time. Eco-friendly benches required.

“We have called Assistant Garden Superintendent Guruswamy Tumale and asked him to come to look at the garden and its premises. He said he will come on Monday (July 25) at 9.30 am to inspect the area,” Vandekar added further.
