Pune: Varandha Ghat Road Completely Closed For Heavy Vehicles During Monsoon Season, Light Vehicles Also Banned On Days Of Heavy Rain Alert
Pune 21st July 2022 : The district collector of Pune and chairman of District Disaster Management Authority Rajesh Deshmukh has issued an order to close Varandha Ghat road in the jurisdiction of Bhor taluka on National Highway 965 DD for heavy vehicles between July 22 and September 30 during the monsoon season.
“This road that falls in the jurisdiction of Pune district is prone to landslides, falling trees, cracked road, and soil erosion due to heavy rainfall during the monsoon season. To prevent potential loss of life and property damage, the decision to close this road entirely for vehicles during the monsoon season has been taken” district collector said in a statement.
Al types of vehicles, including heavy, medium, and light vehicles, will not be allowed to travel on the Varandha Ghat road on the days when th Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issues Red or Orange alert. However, whenever there is no such alert by IMD, the road will remain open only for the movement of light vehicles.
