Pune: Villagers Rescue Lost Tourists In Sinhagad Valley Who Had Gone Trekking On Wrong Path

Pune, 25th December 2021: Two tourists, who took an unusual path to trek on the Sinhagad fort, missed the path in darkness and got lost in the valley.

Knowing this, about 30 to 40 locals including activists from Atakarwadi village and members of the forest conservation committee launched a search mission and traced the tourist in Waghdari area.

Nitin Kachare and Nilesh Kadam from Dhankawadi had lost their path during trekking.

 

Speaking about this, Sachin Pasalkar, a villager who participated in the search mission said, “Both tourists are aged between 30 to 35 years. They had started their trek through Bird Valley at 4 pm on Friday (24th December). This route is unusual and goes through a deep valley. It also has a waterfall and a rock which blocks the path going on the fort.”

He added, “The tourists missed their path. After realizing this, they contacted me through a friend around 7 pm. I informed the former chief of the forest conservation committee Dattatray Jorkar who called around 30 youths from the village. Four teams were formed and the search for the tourists began. The team reached the tourists by 10 pm and brought them back to the village by 11 pm.”

Former Deputy Sarpanch of Ghera Sinhagad Dada Padher, Popat Bhondekar, villagers Mauli Koditkar, District Chief of Yuvasena Sachin Pasalkar, Sameer Khirid, Sandeep Khirid were part of the search mission.
