Pune Weather Update: Chilly Nights, Morning Haze as Temperatures Dip
Pune, 23rd December 2025: Cold conditions persisted in Pune as the city recorded a marginal drop in minimum temperatures, while haze was observed during early mornings and late nights due to rising moisture levels.
On Tuesday, December 23, Pune city recorded a minimum temperature of 8.1 degrees Celsius, while Pashan logged 8.6 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). In the wider district, the Haveli weather station at Loni Kalbhor recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 7.5 degrees Celsius. Lavale, on the other hand, reported the highest minimum temperature in the district at 16.6 degrees Celsius.
A day earlier, Mahabaleshwar, a popular hill station in western Maharashtra, recorded a minimum temperature of 12.1 degrees Celsius.
Meteorologists attributed the prevailing conditions to the increasing influence of easterly winds, which have led to higher moisture content in the air. This has resulted in haze formation during early morning hours and late nights across parts of the city.
Despite the chill, many residents appeared to be enjoying the winter weather, with parks and public spaces witnessing increased footfall during morning and evening hours.
Meanwhile, Pune’s air quality showed a slight improvement. The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 191 on Tuesday, placing it in the ‘moderate’ category, compared to the ‘poor’ category reported earlier. However, officials cautioned that prolonged exposure to such air quality could still pose health risks, particularly for people with respiratory ailments.
The administration has issued a health advisory, urging vulnerable groups to limit prolonged outdoor exposure and take necessary precautions.
