Hadapsar, 26th April 2023: Amidst the gaiety of a wedding celebration in Pune’s Hadapsar area, a storm of violence erupted, leaving the guests in a state of shock and dismay. What was supposed to be a joyous occasion turned into a scene of chaos, all over a leftover sweet dish.

The grandeur of Rajyog Mangal Karyalay in the Shewalwadi area was eclipsed by the darkness of a brawl that took place on April 23rd at 6 pm.

According to an FIR lodged at Hadapsar police station, four members of the groom’s party approached Dipanshu Gupta (28), the manager, to pack some of the remaining food. While they were filling the food in the box, Gupta asked them not to take the Gulab Jamun as it was reserved for the next day’s event. This incensed the party members who proceeded to physically assault Gupta, using their fists and a steel spatula, causing him to bleed from the head.

The girl’s relative and the catering owner stepped in to intervene, causing the assailants to flee the scene. Gupta, left reeling from the assault, headed straight to Hadapsar police station to file a complaint.

Upon filing his report, an FIR was registered against the four unidentified assailants for offences under sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 504 (insult), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The police are conducting further investigation into this matter.
