Pune: Woman Arrested For Killing Her 3-Month-Old Daughter, Minor Son Also Detained For Helping

Yerwada, 24th October 2021: The officials from Yerwada police station under Pune city police have nabbed a 32-year-old woman and her 13-year-old son in connection with the death of her three-month-old daughter whose body was recovered from the Mula-Mutha river today.

Earlier on Saturday, she had lodged a complaint with police stating her infant daughter had been kidnapped from her house near the vegetable market in Yerwada around 7 pm. An FIR was registered for kidnapping and an investigation was going on.

According to Senior Police Inspector Yunus Shaikh, in-charge of Yerwada police station, the woman is a divorcee. She had given birth to the girl out of an illicit relationship. She was feeling ashamed about facing her relatives. Hence, she strangled the infant child at home and then threw her body in the river from Bundgarden bridge. She had also taken her minor son in confidence while committing the murder.

Inspector Shaikh said that now the woman and her son have been detained. They have been charged for offences under sections 302 (murder), 201 (destroying evidence), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The investigation was done under the guidance of DCP (Zone 4) Rohidas Pawar, ACP Kishor Jadhav and Senior Police Inspector Yunus Shaikh.

The team included Police Inspector (Crime) Vijaysingh Chauhan, PSI Ravindrakumar Warangule, Kiran Litte, Detection Branch’s Assistant Police Inspector Ravindra Alekar, Police Naik Tejas Bhosale, Siddhram Patil, Amjad Shaikh, Shubhangi Chavan, Vishnu Thakare and Anil Shinde.
