Pune: Woman Chased and Touched Inappropriately In Bavdhan, Accused Arrested
Bavdhan, 18th October 2023: On August 30, 2023, at approximately 7:30 pm in the evening, a distressing incident occurred in front of Bavadhan’s Wellness Medical near Utsav Home Society, as a woman was walking to purchase fruits. The incident involved the relentless pursuit by an individual riding a black-coloured scooter. The suspect, of short stature with a round face, persistently followed the woman.
The unsettling sequence of events unfolded as the suspect, riding a scooter, initially stopped in front of Utsav Home and insisted that the woman accompany him. Subsequently, he halted near Suryadutt College, where he, despite the plaintiff’s refusal to engage, continued to persist, trailing her on the scooter. In a deeply distressing turn of events, the suspect approached the woman, suddenly touching her appropriately while still on the scooter, causing significant distress to the plaintiff.
Recognizing the gravity of this crime, senior law enforcement officials took immediate action. Dr Kakasaheb Dole, Deputy Commissioner of Police, directed the Crime Investigation Team of Hinjewadi Police Station, led by Dr Vivek Mugalikar, Senior Police Inspector, and assisted by Assistant Police Inspector Sagar Kate and Assistant Police Inspector Ram Gomari, to investigate the matter thoroughly.
In their pursuit of justice, the investigation team meticulously reviewed a total of 87 CCTV footage from the Bavdhan area, ultimately identifying fifty vehicles of the TVS Scooty Pept as potential suspects. Despite initial challenges, their unwavering commitment led to a breakthrough in the case. After a month-long investigation, the team narrowed their focus to the Bavdhan area, set a trap, and discreetly observed a suspected Scooty Pept vehicle driver. When confronted, the suspect confessed to the crime and was apprehended on October 16, 2023.
This successful operation was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Commissioner of Police Pimpri Chinchwad Vinay Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr Sanjay Shinde, Upper Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kakasaheb Dole, Assistant Commissioner of Police Vishal Hire, Senior Police Inspector Dr Vivek Mugalikar, and Police Inspector Crime Sunil Dahiphale. The investigation team, including Assistant Police Inspector Sagar Kate, Assistant Police Inspector Ram, and their dedicated team, played a crucial role in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
