Pune: Woman Dies By Drinking Poison Due To Refusal of Marriage
Pune, 2nd September 2022: A young woman died by suicide by drinking poison after being cheated by an acquaintance on a matrimonial website.
The Vishrantwadi police station has registered a case against Shantanu Sanjay Salunkhe, a resident of Mumbai. The girl’s brother has filed a complaint with Pune City police.
According to police, Salunkhe had lured the young woman for marriage through an acquaintance on the website. He dragged the girl into a trap for physical relations. The girl asked about marriage but Salunkhe refused her. The girl’s brother said in the complaint that she consumed poison.
She was admitted to Sassoon Hospital. While undergoing treatment in the hospital, she gave a statement to the police. A case was registered against Salunkhe after her statement as well as the complaint given by her brother. Police Sub-Inspector Chavan is investigating this case.
