Pune: Woman Doctor Threatened, Demanded Extortion of Rs 5 Lakh; Cops Disguise As Medical Staff To Nab Accused

Pune, January 16, 2021: A doctor woman was allegedly threatened by a caller to kill her and her child and demanded extortion of Rs five lakh. The accused said that he was given the contract by her husband.

The woman from Bibwewadi-Kondhwa Road area filed a complaint with Market Yard police station. According to the police, the accused Rakesh Naresh Patil, a resident of Sayyed Nagar, Hadapsar, who hails from Chhattisgarh, arrested within 24 hours.

Complainant woman has a clinic in Bibwewadi Kondhwa area. On Monday (January 11) morning, a person called on her mobile and said, “Your husband has paid me Rs 5 lakh to kill you and your child. However, I do not take the contract for the murder of the child. If you want to save your child pay me Rs 5 lakh.”

A team led by senior police inspector Duryodhan Pawar nabbed the accused from a construction site in Sayyed Nagar area. The police disguised themselves as healthcare workers and got details of the labourers for Corona vaccine. They found the accused and arrested him.

The action was taken by a team which included PSI Santosh Shinde, staff Anis Sheikh, Swapnil Kadam and Ghule.
