Kondhwa, 24th January 2026: A woman rider was seriously injured in an accident on the main road at Lullanagar, opposite Motherhood Hospital, on the morning of January 24, 2026, after a large quantity of oil and greasy hotel waste reportedly spilled on the road.

According to a complaint filed with the Kondhwa-Bibwewadi Ward Office and the Pune Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) by Raj Singh, founder of the Sikh Helpline Foundation, the spill was caused by a passing garbage van transporting hotel waste. The slippery surface resulted in the accident, raising concerns over public safety and the handling of hazardous waste.

Local volunteers quickly responded by spreading sand on the road to prevent additional skidding, but the incident highlights potential negligence in waste transport protocols by municipal contractors or authorized garbage vehicles.

In his complaint, Singh urged immediate action, calling for:
An investigation to identify the specific vehicle or contractor responsible for the spill.
Thorough cleanup of the road by the PMC to prevent further accidents.
Strict accountability measures against the driver or contractor for failing to secure hazardous waste.
The Sikh Helpline Foundation emphasised that public safety should not rely on volunteer intervention and requested swift confirmation of remedial action.

The PMC and Pune Traffic Police are yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
