Pune: Woman Molested By Man She Met On Dating App Bumble

Wakad, 10th May 2022: A 28-year-old woman was allegedly molested by a man whom she had befriended through the dating app Bumble.

 

The woman, who works as a manager with a bank, has registered an FIR with Wakad police station under Pimpri Chinchwad police against Mukesh Suryawanshi, who uses the handle ‘Madi Surya’ on the Bumble app. The accused extorted Rs 50,000 from the victim under the pretext of going on a trip to the Maldives.

 

According to police, the incident took place between March 11 and 26 this year at Rahatani.

 

The police have booked Suryavanshi, a resident of Kalpataru Society, Kalyani Nagar, for offences under sections 354, 406, and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

 

As per the woman’s statement, the accused visited her house and offered to take her on a trip to the Maldives. He also claimed that the trip would cost approximately Rs 95,000 and promised to spend Rs one lakh on the trip. He also asked her to pay Rs 50,000 out of Rs 95,000 for the trip. She gave him the amount as well as a photocopy of her passport.

 

Meanwhile, the accused demanded a physical relationship with her and acted inappropriately. The accused then repeatedly contacted her. Later, the girl realized the cheating as the Maldives trip date had passed.

 

The case was registered on May 8 after she lodged a complaint.
