Pune: Woman Stabbed by Male Friend After She Says Her Marriage Fixed, Case Registered

Chandannagar, 30th April 2026: A 20-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her male friend at her residence in Chandannagar on Wednesday night after she informed him that her marriage had been fixed with another person, police said.

The victim, Ujaladevi Dohare, sustained serious injuries in the attack and is undergoing treatment at the hospital. According to police, the incident took place around 8 pm on April 29, when Rathod allegedly entered her house and attacked her with a knife in a fit of anger.

The accused, identified as Dilip Rathod, is currently absconding, and a case has been registered against him at the Chandannagar police station based on a complaint filed by the woman’s relatives.

Investigations revealed that the two worked together at a mall in Pune, where they became acquainted. Their friendship later developed into a relationship.

Police said the woman had recently visited her native place, where her family arranged her marriage. She had informed Rathod about the development, which is suspected to have triggered the assault.

Police teams are searching for the accused, and further investigation is underway.
