Pune: Youths Duped Of Rs 17 Lakh With PMC Clerk Job Offer

Pune, 28th June 2022: An incident of fraud has come up where five people have been cheated of Rs 17 lakh with the lure of a job as a clerk in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Even previously, there have been cases of fraud with the lure of giving jobs in the municipality.

Shubhangi Bhikaram Pote (36) has lodged a complaint at Yerwada Police Station. Accordingly, a case has been registered against Santosh Shantilal Walekar. The fraud took place between October 2019 and June 2022.

According to the police, the complainant is staying in the Wagholi area. She got familiar with the accused after he acquired the trust of the complainant by luring her with a job as a clerk in the PMC. He also took a total of Rs 17 lakh 50 thousand during the period from the complainant saying that he would also get jobs for his brother-in-law and three other youths.

However, they didn’t get a job upon the huge money paid and soon realized they had been cheated. They demanded a refund. However, the money wasn’t returned. Hence, a complaint was lodged soon after. Police are carrying out further investigations.
