For this purpose, Mahajan united like-minded youths and established the Yuvakmitra Parivar. On behalf of this family, old items belonging to the citizens of big cities are collected and repaired. After that these items are made available to needy, poor and promising students in rural areas.

Mahajan has established this ‘Yuvakamitra Parivar’ in Pune city in 2015. This family is working for the development of underprivileged students in rural and remote areas by organizing like-minded youth. Currently, more than 100 youths across the state are associated with this movement. Through the movement, activities like the library, computer literacy campaign and bicycle bank are implemented in the village.

“Through this movement, old books, computers, and bicycles donated by citizens are collected. All these items are repaired at their own expense and then the items are gifted to schools of unaided, underprivileged students in rural areas as per their demand,” said Mahajan.

Praveen Mahajan, the founder of ‘Yuvakamitra Parivar’, is a resident of Kothali, Taluka Shahada in the Nandurbar district, which is considered to be very remote. He has been working in a government job in Pune city for seven years and has maintained continuity in this activity with the help of youths like Sachin Mhase, Badal Singh Girase, Mayur Jadhav and Mayur Bagul.

Citizens of Pune, and Mumbai can easily give old items, unused books, bicycles, and computers to the youths and deliver these items to the needy. Interested citizens can register to donate items through the “Pune Donate Hand” app. Also, the needy and prospective students and schools can register their demand for the items they need.

“On one side of the society, there are families with a large number of comforts. On the other hand, students do not even get a simple bicycle to go to school. Poor and promising students sometimes do not even get useful school materials. The purpose of starting this Yuvamitra Family movement is to provide help to such students. Our objective has been successful,” said Praveen Mahajan.
