Pune Zilla Parishad Orders Inspection After Students Found Attending Tuitions During School Hours
Pune, 14th March 2026: A serious irregularity has been reported in government schools in Baramati taluka of Pune district, where students are marking attendance during school hours but leaving the premises to attend private tuition classes.
After the issue came to light, Pune Zilla Parishad Primary Education Officer Sanjay Naikade ordered inspections of schools across the district. He also stated that school headmasters will be held responsible if such practices are found.
The matter surfaced following a complaint from a citizen. During a preliminary inquiry, officials found that similar incidents may also be taking place in areas of Indapur and Shikrapur.
Naikade said allowing students to attend private coaching classes during school hours is a serious matter. Apart from affecting students’ education, it also raises concerns about their safety. If a student leaves the school after marking attendance and any incident occurs outside the campus, it would be unclear who would be held responsible.
Following the complaint, the education department has directed all Block Development Officers in the district to immediately inspect schools in their respective talukas and submit detailed reports.
The department has warned that strict action will be taken against the concerned teachers as well as headmasters if such violations are confirmed. Officials said that while the government is spending significant funds to improve the quality of Zilla Parishad schools, such practices cannot be tolerated.
Headmasters who allow students to leave school during class hours to attend private tuition have been asked to submit written explanations to the education department.
