Pune’s Ranjangaon Set to Host State’s First Electronics Manufacturing Cluster, Operations in 2 Months
Pune, 4th June 2026: Maharashtra’s first Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) is set to become operational in the next two months at Ranjangaon Industrial Area near Pune. The pilot project, developed under the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s EMC scheme, is expected to attract investments of around Rs 2,000 crore and generate nearly 5,000 direct jobs.
Developed by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) over 297 acres, the project has been built at a cost of Rs 492 crore, with nearly half the funding provided by the Centre. The cluster offers ready-to-use manufacturing infrastructure, enabling companies to begin production within a month of setting up operations.
MIDC officials said around 50 to 60 electronics companies are expected to invest in the cluster. Two companies have already commenced operations. IFB Refrigeration has invested Rs 450 crore, creating 1,200 jobs, while Starion HK India has invested Rs 175 crore and generated 320 jobs.
The cluster is strategically located near the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway, about 50 km from Pune city, 45 km from Pune Airport, 5 km from Ranjangaon railway station and around 150 km from Jawaharlal Nehru Port.
“Industries typically take one to two years to develop facilities and begin production. At the EMC, ready infrastructure will allow companies to start manufacturing within a month of taking possession of space,” said Nilesh Modhave, Superintending Engineer, MIDC.
