Pune : Man Allegedly Treats Patients For a Year Without Medical Registration in Kharadi, Case Registered

Pune, 11st September 2026: A 29-year-old man who allegedly practised medicine without the required qualification or registration and ran a clinic in Kharadi for nearly a year has been booked by the Chandan Nagar police.

The accused, Dhiraj Dilip Yeole, a resident of Chakanasgaon in Jalgaon district, allegedly used a fake medical registration number to secure a job at Kasurba Specialty Hospital in Vishrantwadi. Police said he had also been treating patients at Shri Vighnaharta Polyclinic in Kharadi, where a signboard identified him as a doctor.

The case came to light after Dr Gopal Ujavnekar, medical officer of the Yerwada-Wadgaon Sheri regional office, approached the health department regarding Yeole. During the inquiry, officials learnt that he was employed at the private hospital and had submitted a medical registration certificate while seeking the job.

Verification of the registration number allegedly revealed that it was not issued in Yeole’s name but was registered to Dr Rucha Devidas Digole.

The health department also found evidence that Yeole had been operating a clinic in his name. Officials recovered a photograph of the clinic’s signboard, which carried the prefix ‘Doctor’ before his name. Online reviews of the clinic also allegedly described him as a doctor.

Further verification found that Yeole had studied BMS but did not have valid registration with the concerned medical council, according to officials. The health department concluded that he had allegedly been treating patients without the requisite medical qualification and registration.

Officials said Yeole had displayed the ‘Doctor’ prefix on the signboard of Shri Vighnaharta Polyclinic from July 2025 to July 2026. Documents collected during the inquiry were sent to the legal department for its opinion before the police complaint was lodged.

The Chandan Nagar police have registered a case against Yeole under Section 318(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 33(2) and 36 of the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act. Further investigation is underway.
