Punjab Government Extends Ban On Internet And SMS Services Till March 23

Amritsar, 21st March 2023: In a new statement today (March 21), the Punjab government has extended the ban on internet and SMS services throughout the state until March 23.

According to a statement from the Punjab Government, “All mobile internet services, all SMS services (except banking & mobile recharge) & all dongle services provided on mobile networks, except the voice call, shall continue to remain suspended in the districts Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Moga, Sangrur, Sub-Division Ainala in Amritsar, areas adjoining YPS chowk and Airport Road both in SAS Nagar, till March 23 (12:00 hours) in the interest of public safety.”

Earlier, the government issued a ban till today (March 21) at noon.

Police detained 78 members of an organisation led by Amritpal as part of a broad crackdown on him that the Punjab government initiated on Saturday.

On Saturday (March 19), the police launched a massive state-wide cordon and search operations (CASO) in the state against the members of the ‘Waris Punjab De’ group, headed by Singh.
