Railway Minister Flags Off Pune–Danapur Amrit Bharat Express

Pune, 17th June 2026: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday flagged off the inaugural run of the Pune–Danapur Amrit Bharat Express from Hadapsar Railway Station, introducing a new direct rail service between Maharashtra and Bihar.
The new train is expected to provide affordable long-distance connectivity for students, job seekers, migrant workers, traders and families travelling between the two states. While the inaugural journey commenced from Hadapsar Railway Station, the regular weekly service will originate from Pune Railway Station.
The Pune–Danapur Amrit Bharat Express establishes a direct rail link between Pune, a major educational, industrial and information technology hub, and Danapur in Bihar. Railway officials said the service is expected to cater to passengers travelling for education, employment, business and family-related purposes.
Designed as part of the Amrit Bharat initiative, the train comprises non-air-conditioned General and Sleeper Class coaches equipped with upgraded passenger amenities and enhanced safety features. The rake incorporates CCTV surveillance, emergency communication systems, improved passenger facilities and push-pull locomotive technology.
The service will operate through several important stations across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, improving connectivity between key urban and regional centres.
The flag-off ceremony at Hadapsar Railway Station was attended by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, MLC Vivek Kolhe and Hadapsar MLA Chetan Tupe.
Regular operations of the Pune–Danapur Amrit Bharat Express will be conducted from Pune Railway Station as per the notified timetable.
