Railways Organise Mock Drill On Miraj-Kolhapur Section In Pune Division

Pune 10th July 2023: The Central Railway on Monday conducted a mock drill on Miraj-Kolhapur section in the Pune division to ensure preparedness to conduct relief and rescue operation in case of emergency.

To conduct a mock drill, an emergency call regarding an accident of a passenger train between Hatkanangle and Jaisingpur railway stations was made to the control room. Soon after the SOS call, information regarding the incident was shared with all the concerned departments and an accident relief train was immediately dispatched from Miraj railway station towards the accident site.

Senior officials including Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) rushed to the accident site with medical teams and RPF and rescue operation was started. The local bodies of the state government including hospitals and the district administration were informed about the incident and they also rushed to the site with help. Only after the officials reached the site, they were informed about the mock drill after which they got relaxed.

Presentation of rescue operation conducted to evacuate the stranded passengers using various equipment was also done and the preparedness was appreciated by the senior officials. Such mock drills are organised frequently by the railways in coordination with the safety department and other concerned departments to check preparedness of the units in case of emergency.
