Rehabilitation of flood-hit villages on war footing : Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil

Kolhapur, 21.Aug.19 (Jimaka): “Flood-hit villages will be rehabilitated at a new place, soon” announced Minister for Revenue and Guardian Chandrakant Patil.

He was speaking during his visit to arranged to review relief work of flood hit villages Nilwadi, old Pargaon and new Pargaon of Hatkangale taluka.. MLA Sujit Minchekar, Gokul’s Director Baba Desai, P. D. Patil, Ajit Singh Katkar, Tahsildar Sudhakar Bhosle, Executive Engineer of PWD, Sonawane and other officials were present, on this occassion.

Talking to the villagers in Nilewadi, Mr. Patil talked about people’s problems relief work conducting by the government.

Mr. Patil further stated that the Nilewadi village was 100 % flooded and the entire village was submerged. The village will be rehabilitated by collecting enough revenue and finding a new place. In case of non-availability of government places, efforts will also be made to make private places available for this rehabilitation work.

Women are satisfied for immediate assistance to flood victims

Women in flood-hit Nilewadi village expressed satisfaction over the timely help of the administration provided to the flood victims. Along with shifting of people to safer places, they provided all facilities. The women also expressed satisfaction over the grant of Rs. 5,000 in cash and 20 kg of grain immediately to the flood affected families. The Guardian Minister arranged a campaign to provided fodder for animals from his own money.

Chandrakant Patil further stated that the government has decided to provide Rs 2.5 lakh for flood-hit rural houses and Rs 3 lakh for city houses. Government would construct the houses for the families who lost their homes in the flood and would give Rs 2000 per month (Rs 24000 in a year)for rent for 1 year.

He also instructed to conduct survey of loss of women self-help groups which had started the business by borrowing from the bank.

“The flood victims received the help of Rs 5,000 in cash and 20 kg of food grains in four months.  Kolhapur district has so far given Rs 27.47 crore grant. Around 4.13 lakhs people of the district were shifted to safe places and provided all necessary facilities. All the help is being provided step by step and the government has decided to provide 1 hectare crop loan waiving for underwater farming and also give amount three times more than of their income to those who have not taken loan. The government has also announced financial help to construct animal shelter” informed Mr. Patil

He said that people should not worry, as government stands firmly behind them. Whatever needs to be done for the flood victims would definitely provide by the government.  Apart from construction of flood-hit houses, the government has also focused on crop loan waiving, free books for students, free ST travel for girls.

The Guardian Minister also directed to prepare an immediate budget for the construction of bridge from Nilewadi to Aitwade on the Warna River.  Prioritize the construction of bridges damaged by floods. The government has approved three days tender for this process.

Distribution of aid kits for flood victims and wet fodder for animal took place at the hands of the Guardian Minister, at Bhendwade village. After that, Mr. Patil visited Khochi village and heard the problems faced by the flood victims. He informed about the relief and remedies that are being organised by the administration for the flood victims.
