Rescue Operation: Pune Fire Brigade Evacuates 15–20 Residents After Indrayani River Floods Homes in Vadgaon Shinde
Lohgaon, 6th July 2026: The Pune Fire Brigade carried out a swift rescue operation on Monday afternoon after the swollen Indrayani River overflowed into Vadgaon Shinde village following incessant heavy rainfall, inundating several houses with nearly four to five feet of water.
At around 3:30 pm, floodwaters entered homes located near the riverbank as the river’s water level rose rapidly, leaving several residents stranded inside. After receiving an emergency call, a team from the Dhanori Fire Station rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Fire personnel successfully evacuated approximately 15 to 20 residents from the flooded houses and shifted them to a safer location. No injuries or casualties were reported.
The rescue operation was carried out by Fire Officer Sopan Pawar, Station Officer (Tandel) Chaudhary, Driver Ganesh Kedari, Firemen Ajay Kokane, Sanjay Karle, and Shinde, along with Fire Helper Ishwar Godse. Their coordinated efforts ensured the safe evacuation of all affected residents.
“At around 3:30 pm, we received information that floodwaters from the Indrayani River had entered several houses in Vadgaon Shinde. Our team immediately reached the location and safely rescued around 15 to 20 residents trapped inside the flooded homes. The operation was completed successfully without any casualties,” said Fire Officer Sopan Pawar.
Authorities have advised residents living along the Indrayani River and in other low-lying areas to remain alert as heavy rainfall continues across Pune district and water levels may rise further. Citizens have also been urged to follow official advisories and avoid venturing into flood-affected areas unless absolutely necessary.
