Pune, 7th August 2022: Owing to the inaction of the Pune Municipal Commissioner, Vikram Kumar, on the removal of the illegal board put up by former BJP Corporator, Shrinath Bhimale, in his father’s name at the new public garden of the neighbourhood, the Salisbury Park Residents Forum (SPRF), which has been campaigning for the last five months, has slammed a legal notice on him, on Saturday.
Advocate Shrikrishna Kachave, on behalf of the SPRF, has served notice to Vikram Kumar to pull down the illegal board within 15 days of the issued notice. If the Commissioner fails to do so, Kachave has stated in his notice that, SPRF “would have no alternative remedy other than seeking appropriate action against (him) and those liable, in the Court of Law.’’
The notice, addressing Kumar states – “You are currently in charge as an Administrator of the Pune Municipal Corporation since the tenure of the General Body has expired on 14/03/2022, and thereupon any failure or omission of the duties and responsibilities, only you would solely be liable. The Pune Municipal Corporation, by being hostile to the removal of the illegal name board of the said garden, has admittedly and blatantly violated the law laid by the Pune Municipal Corporation in the General Body Resolution No.110, dated 24/07/2000.’’
The legal notice also highlights SPRF’s several letters, meetings, and various representations to Kumar and his subordinate officers and authorities, despite which no action has been initiated against the illegal board.
Four letters to Kumar dated 18/03/2022, 09/05/2022, 17/06/2022, and 01/07/2022 were received and acknowledged, but no action has been taken on them.
According to General Body Resolution No.110, passed by the Pune Municipal Corporation (dated 24/07/2000), gardens can be named only after National Leaders or those individuals whose contribution in the fields of Botany and Environment has been immense.
