Ghorpadi, 6th June 2026: Residents of Kohinoor Presidentia and the adjoining Kingsway Society near the Fire Brigade Station on Bhagwan Tatyasaheb Kawade Road in Ghorpadi have been facing severe inconvenience after extensive road damage disrupted connectivity and affected essential services over the past two days.

According to residents, a sanctioned Development Plan (DP) road intended to provide access to the area remains incomplete despite repeated follow-ups with the authorities. Another connecting route has reportedly become unusable due to the presence of a permanent well and a major drainage line. Cracks have allegedly developed in the drainage structure, causing significant damage to the road and severing connectivity between the two residential societies.

The damaged road stretch has prevented water tankers, garbage collection vehicles, and other essential service providers from accessing the area, creating considerable hardship for residents. School buses transporting children have also been affected, forcing parents and students to face additional challenges during their daily commute.

Residents fear that the situation could become critical in the event of a medical emergency, as ambulances and other emergency response vehicles may find it difficult to reach the societies.

“We have been facing serious difficulties for the last two days. Water tankers and garbage collection vehicles are unable to enter the area, and school buses carrying young children are also affected. If an emergency occurs, ambulances may not be able to reach us. Are the authorities waiting for a major mishap before taking action?” a resident said.

Responding to the issue, PMC Ward Office No. 14 Officer Mahadik said that the civic administration has taken note of the problem and initiated action.

“I have deputed the concerned engineer to inspect the site. The necessary work will be carried out at the earliest,” Mahadik said.

Residents have urged the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to undertake immediate repairs, restore road connectivity, and address the underlying structural issues before the situation worsens and poses a greater risk to public safety.
