Russia’s Sputnik V Vaccine Now Available In India, Know Its Price

New Delhi, 14th May 2021: India has found another weapon in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic. The first dose of the Russian corona vaccine Sputnik V has been given in India.

Deepak Sapra, Global Head of Custom Pharma Services at Dr Reddy’s Lab, has administered the first dose of the vaccine in Hyderabad.

Drug firm Dr Reddy’s Lab said on Friday that the soft launch of the Russian corona vaccine Sputnik V has started as part of a limited pilot and the first dose of the vaccine has been administered in Hyderabad.

The first batch of imported doses of Sputnik V vaccine landed in India on May 1 and received regulatory approval on May 13, 2021, from Central Pharmaceutical Laboratory, Kasauli.

Sputnik V is currently priced at a maximum of Rs 948 in the retail market, including 5 percent GST per dose. However, the price of this vaccine is likely to come down once production starts in India.Significantly, the Russian-made Sputnik vaccine may be available in India from next week.

VK Paul, a member of the Health Committee of the Policy Commission, has informed that the Sputnik V vaccine has reached India. “I am happy to announce that it will be available in the market from next week,” he said. He also said that the production of the Sputnik vaccine is going to start in India in July.

15.6 crore doses of Sputnik V vaccine will be prepared in India. At present, about 180 million corona vaccines have been given in the country till now. The United States has the highest number of 260 million vaccines. India ranks third in terms of corona vaccines.

“We are pleased that one-third of people in the country over the age of 45 have been protected from corona,” Paul said.
