Central Government Approves Covaxin Trial For Children From 2-18 Years

Member of the Health Committee of the Policy Commission, Dr VK Paul said, “People say that the responsibility of manufacturing Covaxin should be given to other companies as well. I am happy to say that Covaxin manufacturing company (Bharat Biotech) has welcomed it during the discussion.

With the help of this vaccine, a live virus is inactivated. It is only prepared in BSL3 (biosafety level) laboratories. Not every company has it. For companies that want to manufacture Covaxin, we give them open invitations. It should be done together. The centre will help to increase the capacity.”

Dr Pal’s statement came on the day the government announced that more than 200 million doses of coronavirus vaccine are expected to be produced between August and December this year.

The Opposition is constantly alleging that the government misrepresented the vaccine scheme.

In a large country like India, the pace of corona vaccination is slow at the moment. The main reason for this is that there is a big difference between production and demand. As of Thursday, only 3.82 crore people in the country have been given the second dose of the vaccine. This is just 2.8 percent of the population of about 135 crores. We are going through a period of limited supply. The whole world is going through this. It takes time to get out of this phase, Paul said.
