Sandvik India announces the launch of Gender Award 2018
Pune, 16 March 2018: With the objective to recognize excellence and commitment to gender equality, diversity and inclusion, Sandvik Asia Pvt. Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of Sandvik AB, today announced the launch of Sandvik India Gender AwardThe award platform gives the applicant an opportunity to be mentored by the industry experts and present their proposal to an International panel such as United Nations Global Compact, Swedish Consulate, Swedish Chambers of Commerce in India.
Sandvik has strategically embraced diversity and inclusion in its operating philosophy.
Taking its Diversity philosophy forward, the Sandvik India Gender Award underscores Sandvik’s commitment towards promoting diversity and inclusion in the communities. The Award will be given to individuals who demonstrate exemplary leadership in promoting diversity and inclusion and will have the following selection criteria: –
- Fostering and promoting an inclusive approach in the communities
- Challenging and overcoming the conscious and sub-conscious bias
- Developing a gender-balanced leadership

We believe Sandvik India Gender Awards takes this philosophy on gender and inclusion into our market spaces, stakeholders, customer and to each one connected to Sandvik’
Each winner or the winning proposal working in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa is selected under the 8 award categories (Not for Profit, Academia, Corporate CSR, Social Enterprise, Corporate Diversity, Community based Organization, Government and Independent), is provided guidance by the industry leaders and financially supported by SANDVIK to inch towards achieving gender equality and contributing to SDG – 5.
“The Sandvik India Gender Award 2018 is a mentoring platform to support gender initiatives under CSR banner in India. We intend to identify individuals working towards gender equality and support their initiatives”, Mr. David added
For gender awards 2018, workshops will be conducted in the three states for potential applicants from all the 8 categories in health, employment, sanitation, sports, art and culture, social change and entrepreneurship on the importance of SDG-5 and the SIGA 2018 application process. The workshops will be conducted from 15 March – 15 April in Pune, Nashik, Goa, Ahmedabad, Nagpur and Mumbai. The last date to apply for the awards is 15 April and the screening of the applications will start from 16 April.
All the applications received for the awards undergo 3 rounds of selection, expert panel, jury and a grand jury. After the first screening of all the applications, the shortlisted applications for the second round will be judged by the jury to bring out the top 24. The 24 finalists, one from each category will be mentored for a period of 10 days by the industry experts for the grand jury round. The grand jury will select the final 8 winners from the top 24, 1 from each category and final 8 winners will be awarded on the award night, May 25, 2018.
The 8 winners of the last year’s Sandivk India Diversity Award will also present their year-long journey during the award ceremony.
